Mouse models of chronic wasting disease: A review

چکیده

Animal models are essential tools for investigating and understanding complex prion diseases like chronic wasting disease (CWD), an infectious of cervids (elk, deer, moose, reindeer). Over the past several decades, numerous mouse have been generated to aid in advancement CWD knowledge comprehension. These facilitated investigation pathogenesis, transmission, potential therapies CWD. Findings impacted management outcomes, though much remains unknown, a cure has yet be discovered. Studying wildlife effects is singularly difficult due long incubation time, subtle clinical signs at early stages, lack convenient in-the-field live testing methods, reproducibility controlled laboratory setting. Mouse many cases first step mechanisms shortened time frame. Here, we provide comprehensive review studies with research. We begin by reviewing that examined use bioassays tissues, bodily fluids, excreta spread disease, then address routes infectivity load. Next, delve into genetic factors influence protein structure. move on immune factors, possible transmission through environmental contamination, species barriers differing strains. conclude make cervidized search

Chronic wasting disease of elk: transmissibility to humans examined by transgenic mouse models.

Chronic wasting disease (CWD), a prion disease affecting free-ranging and captive cervids (deer and elk), is widespread in the United States and parts of Canada. The large cervid population, the popularity of venison consumption, and the apparent spread of the CWD epidemic are likely resulting in increased human exposure to CWD in the United States. Whether CWD is transmissible to humans, as ha...

Chronic Wasting Disease

Chronic wasting disease (CWD) is a neurodegenerative disease, caused by a prion that affects cervids including deer, elk and moose. Until recently, CWD was an obscure illness that seemed to be found only in a small geographic area in northeastern Colorado and southeastern Wyoming. However, this disease has now been detected in wild and farmed cervids in many other U.S. states and Canada. Korea ...

Chronic Wasting Disease

Chronic wasting disease (CWD) is a unique transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE) of mule deer (Odocoileus hemionus), white-tailed deer (O. virginianus), and Rocky Mountain elk (Cervus elaphus nelsoni). The natural history of CWD is incompletely understood, but it differs from scrapie and bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) by virtue of its occurrence in nondomestic and free-ranging sp...
